Frequently Asked Questions

Is this vintage glassware?

Nope! It might look vintage (we hope it does!), but it’s all brand-new glassware with all-original vintage-inspired designs. Now you can enjoy a set of “vintage” glassware without having to hunt for it piece-by-piece at thrift shops or pay a fortune for a rare set of intact glasses from a dealer.

Who makes your glassware? Where are these made?

No third-party off-shore companies or fancy automated printers here! We small batch hand-print our glassware completely in-house (literally in our house) on a custom-built screen-printing press, specially designed for glassware. The process is very similar to the way the original vintage printed glassware was made, but instead of ceramic inks, we use a special modern epoxy ink that is durable, glossy and richly colored. The glasses themselves are genuine Libbey glassware, made in the U.S.A.

Is Atomic Drinkware non-toxic?

YES! Unlike actual vintage glassware, our products are 100% lead-free, heavy-metal free and non-toxic. Our inks are manufactured in the USA and conform to all food-safety regulations.

Is this glassware dishwasher safe?

YES! However, to ensure the life of the finish, we highly recommend hand-washing with a soft sponge and drying with clean cloth. Also dishwashers kind of suck, and life is too short to drink out of grimy, weird-smelling glasses. That being said, we’ve been testing a few of our glasses in our dishwasher, daily, for years on end, and they are holding up perfectly.

Can I buy replacement glasses?

Yes …generally speaking. Part of the beauty of our product is that new ones can always be re-made, providing it’s not from a limited-run. We don’t have singles listed in the shop, but please contact us and we’ll do our best to help you. Most of our designs will be continuously produced, and we always try to run a few extras because hey, butterfingers. That being said, we hand-mix our ink colors by sight, and while we try our best to match colors from batch-to-batch, we can’t guarantee a perfect match, but it will be dang close.

Where’s the shiny gold?

We know, we know, the gold is awesome! But unfortunately it’s a completely impractical process, involving baking the expensive 24kt gold finish onto the glassware in huge kilns at around 1100°F! Our print process is FAR more practical, and results in brighter colors with a durable finish that you don’t have to be afraid to use or clean on a daily basis. Also, we’ve found that glassware with gold or silver kind of taste like you’re licking a battery.

Will the ink rub off or fade?

Nope! Our epoxy inks are specially formulated for glass and will stay perfectly intact with normal daily use. The colors won’t fade or lose their shine if properly cared for. That means NO BRILLO PADS or rough scrubby things. Please see the included care sheet or the dishwasher question above.

Where are your products sourced?

Everything we use to produce our glassware is made in the U.S.A.! We only print on genuine Libbey glassware, our inks are made in Kansas, and our custom boxes are printed and manufactured in Seattle, Washington.
